Pastor Phil Jackson shares the social justice origin story of the Firehouse Community Arts Center in Chicago, essential leadership lessons he has learned from his role as founder and CEO, and the ways the Firehouse lives out its mission to interrupt the cycle of violence among youth and young adults in North Lawndale through the power of the arts and faith. 

His storytelling affirms the transformative impact of the arts, establishing and maintaining authentic relationships with your community, and stories of how the Firehouse has become a refuge and a source of inspiration and strength for many in North Lawndale. 

Meet Phil

Phil and his wife Kim have shared life’s journey since 1985, raising three adult children and delighting in their role as grandparents to eight. Since 1987, Phil has dedicated himself to urban youth ministry in Chicago, working to disrupt cycles of violence. He served as Youth and Associate Pastor at Lawndale Community Church before founding The House Covenant Church in 2003, known for its Christ-centered, hip-hop worship. As Founder and CEO of The Firehouse Community Arts Center, Phil transforms lives through the arts. A published author, Phil holds degrees from Trinity International University and Northern Theological Seminary.
